Sniper’s Hide has announced that it will be conducting a special stage during the 2015 Hide Cup. The Robinson Stage will be dedicated to Marine Scout Sniper, Sergeant Joshua Robinson who was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device for heroic achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving as Assistant Team Leader, Scout Sniper Team 2 (SST2).

FOR HEROIC ACHIEVEMENT IN CONNECTION WITH COMBAT OPERATIONS AGAINST THE ENEMY AS ASSISTANT TEAM LEADER, SCOUT SNIPER TEAM 2, HEADQUARTERS AND SERVICE COMPANY, 1ST BATTALION, 5TH MARINES, REGIMENTAL COMBAT TEAM 8, 2D MARINE DIVISION (FORWARD), II MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (FORWARD) AFGHANISTAN, ON 10 JUNE 2011 IN SUPPORT OF

OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.  SERGEANT ROBINSON’S SCOUT SNIPER TEAM CAME UNDER HEAVY MEDIUM MACHINE GUN AND SMALL ARMS FIRE FROM MULTIPLE ENEMY POSITIONS ON 10 JUNE 2011.  HE IMMEDIATELY MANEUVERED HIS ELEMENT TO A POSITION OF ADVANTAGE, DIRECTED PRECISION FIRES ONTO THE ENEMY LOCATIONS, AND COURAGEOUSLY EXPOSED HIMSELF COUNTLESS TIMES TO WITHERING FIRE TO INSPIRE HIS MARINES AND REPEL THE ENEMY’S ATTACK.  WHILE RETURNING TO BASE, HIS TEAM AND A SUPPORTING SQUAD WERE ENGAGED IN OPEN TERRAIN BY AN ENEMY AMBUSH.  THE OVERWHELMING FIRE IMMEDIATELY WOUNDED THE POINT MAN AND PINNED DOWN THE REMAINING MARINES.  WITH COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR HIS PERSONAL SAFETY, HE LED HIS MARINES TO ESTABLISH A SUPPORT BY FIRE POSITION TO ALLOW THE CORPSMAN TO REACH THE WOUNDED MARINE.  DURING THE HOUR-LONG ENGAGEMENT, HE DIRECTED FRIENDLY FIRES, COORDINATED WITH REINFORCEMENTS, AND FACILITATED THE RAPID EVACUATION OF THE CASUALTY.  THROUGHOUT SIX HOURS OF INTENSE CONTACT WITH THE ENEMY, HIS TIRELESS ACTIONS, BOLD LEADERSHIP, AND RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF THE ENEMY ALLOWED THE MARINES TO RETURN SAFELY TO FRIENDLY LINES AND DECISIVELY REPEL EACH ENEMY ASSAULT.  BY HIS EXTRAORDINARY GUIDANCE, ZEALOUS INITIATIVE, AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY, SERGEANT ROBINSON REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
