UDT Shorts

$23.25

The Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) were an elite special-purpose force established by the United States Navy during World War II, and it’s from them these shorts got their name. Their primary function was to reconnoiter and destroy enemy defensive obstacles on beaches prior to amphibious landings. At the same time, Marine Raiders were elite units established by the United States Marine Corps during WWII to conduct special amphibious light infantry warfare, particularly by landing in rubber boats and operating behind the lines. “Edson’s” Raiders of 1st Marine Raiders Battalion and “Carlson’s” Raiders of 2nd Marine Raiders Battalion are said to be the first United States special operations forces to form and see combat in World War II. Post-WWII, these UDT shorts continued to be worn by Navy SEALs, Reconnaissance Marines, Scout Snipers, and even Infantry Marines performing Scout Swimmer duties. This amphibious warfare tradition lives on in the shorts they made famous.
